Weather brings rise in insurance claims

After the severe weather that dogged China over the last few weeks, insurers in China have been counting the costs. While home insurance is yet to be purchased widely by Chinese home-owners, the bulk of claims have been from those with business insurance. The growing importance of this market is evident in the advance payment of RMB5million to a Jiangxi property and casualty subsidiary before assessors viewed the weather damage - a practice not common in the industry.
